Starting a new job is most probably one of the most nerve racking experience's I could go through... Up there with bungee jumping, or... having to hold a tarantula (As you can tell I struggled to find nerve racking experiences) And so, when I started my new job at Heathrow Terminal 4, 3 weeks ago, I can't say I was the most relaxed I've ever been.
I just despise being the newbie. Having people stare at you, struggling to join in on the conversation because you have no idea what they're talking about, having to introduce yourself 50 million times! And just not knowing the general protocol.
Well, you'll be pleased to know I survived, maybe with a few bumps and scrapes along the way, but I am now in my 3rd week and am enjoying it. I still hate that work feeling, but have kind of realized that everyone has that, and they just have to deal with it, because they need to pay the bills! I still have to introduce myself, but to not as many people. I still struggle to join in on the conversations, but I'm now comfortable remaining silent.
And I have met some wonderful people (and some terribly rude people who I can't seem to get my head around) So maybe this summer (not so) break will be okay this year, and I know it'll all be worth it when I get that fat pay cheque in the post!
